What are A&A Works in Hong Kong?
Under the Hong Kong Buildings Ordinance, Alterations and Additions (A&A) refer to building works that modify an existing structure. If you are modifying structural walls, altering escape staircases, or significantly changing the layout of a legacy home, it is legally classified as A&A.
These works strictly require the appointment of an Authorized Person (AP) and a Registered Structural Engineer (RSE) to submit plans to the Building Authority (BD) prior to commencement.
Building Extension
Constructing a new extension, vertically or horizontally, to an existing building.
Multi-Floor Integration
Linking two or more floors by removing parts of the floor slab and/or adding internal staircases.

Combining two or more units into one by removing the partition walls.
